Drifting along the border of India and Nepal, the Singalila Ridge is more than just a trekking route; it is a grandstand view of the world’s roof. The Sunderbans sprawl beyond any single map: a transboundary world of tide and mangrove shared between India and Bangladesh, with the Indian side’s Sunderbans National Park bearing the UNESCO World Heritage seal. Yet from the deck of a boat, what looks untouched is actually alive with human presence: villages, shrines, and river communities woven right up against the wild.

Forget what you know about tiger reserves. While it bears the name, Buxa (often abbreviated as BTR) is not a place for easy, open-jeep sightings of a big cat. This is a land you experience on foot. It’s a place of dense forests that climb 1,750 metres to the Bhutan border, of mist-shrouded historical ruins, and of a vast, bone-white riverbed that, in itself, is one of North Bengal's most iconic sights.
