Rock Climbing & Bouldering

Joychandi Pahar is one of the best-known rock climbing destinations in West Bengal, drawing climbers from Kolkata, Dhanbad and Asansol. The granite outcrops offer a range of routes suited to beginners and intermediate climbers, with the hard, textured stone providing excellent grip. Weekend climbing groups are common in the winter season. No formal climbing infrastructure or guides are stationed at the hill, so visiting climbers should come with their own equipment and ideally with experienced companions. The nearby Susunia Pahar in Bankura district is another popular climbing site for those building a multi-day expedition.
