Outram Ghat

Named for Sir James Outram, built in neoclassical style with a civic ambition typical of mid-19th-century British Calcutta. Its long stone steps and formal architecture make dawn bathing here one of the most photographically composed scenes on the river; by 9am a leisure crowd changes the character.
