Popularly named for Parshvanatha, though the primary shrine honours Shitalanatha, this is a campus of four temples built from 1867 under merchant-philanthropist Rai Badridas Bahadur Mookim. Alongside the main shrine (its diamond-studded forehead the focus of veneration) stand a Chandraprabha temple added in 1895, a Mahavira temple and the Dadawadi, housing footprints of two revered Jain monks. The architecture draws on Rajasthani Svetambara tradition with Belgian mirrors and European stained glass, echoing the eclecticism of North Kolkata’s great mansions; formal gardens surround it.
