The Folk Art Centre & Museum

Charida has a Folk Art Centre, run by a cooperative of mask-makers, which documents the art form's history and displays categories of masks. There is also a small museum in the village that charts the journey of Purulia Chhau masks and honours notable figures like Gambhir Singh Mura (1930-2002), a Padma Shri-awarded Chhau dancer and mask-maker whose statue stands in the village, who first brought the art form to wider national and international recognition.
