The belt's Lepcha communities maintain a rich material and spiritual culture that is accessible to respectful visitors. Ask your homestay host to introduce you to elderly community members, to explain the significance of household religious objects, or to demonstrate local cooking methods. During festive seasons (Losoong, Sikkimese/Lepcha New Year in December; Magh Purnima in January; Saga Dawa in spring), visitors may be welcomed to observe or join community celebrations.
