The heart and soul of the town. This riverside promenade (roughly 700 metres to a kilometre, depending on where you start counting) runs along the Hooghly, the Bengal arm of the Ganga, and it is the finest of its kind in this part of the state. It is lined with canopy trees, heritage lamps, and river-facing benches. A sunset walk here is mandatory. Watch the country boats drift by as the streetlights flicker on, casting a Parisian glow over the river.
