With almost no light pollution and a clear winter sky above the valley, the Jaldhaka Valley offers some of the best naked-eye stargazing in West Bengal. Rongo and Paren, slightly elevated above the valley floor, are the optimal spots. On a new-moon night in December or January, the Milky Way is clearly visible from both. Ask your homestay host for a safe spot away from any road, wrap up warmly, and give your eyes 20 minutes to adapt. The silence is extraordinary.
