This elegant pale-yellow Protestant church, its distinctive tower rising above the riverfront, remains the spiritual heart of Serampore’s small Christian community. Built in 1806 under Danish administration (and today jointly associated with the Church of North India and the Serampore College Council), it’s also the poster child of Serampore’s restoration: closed in 2009 after structural deterioration, it was restored from 2013–2016, reconsecrated in 2016, and earned a UNESCO Award of Distinction for heritage conservation that same year.
Don’t miss the royal monogram of Danish King Christian VII on the pediment; inside, the restraint and practicality of the architecture feel like Scandinavian calm adapted to the tropics.
