Two old churches complete the town's ecumenical heritage circuit. St. John's Church, built in 1851 by the Church Mission Society of England, stands as a distinctive piece of European ecclesiastical architecture in the Bengali streetscape. It is also the burial site of Peddie, Douglas and Burge. The Medinipur Baptist Church (1863) nearby represents the American Baptist mission presence. Both churches are still in use and accept respectful visitors.
