Text Body

One of the older structures in the belt, this small Christian church built with bamboo and locally sourced materials stands as a quiet architectural curiosity and a reminder of the diverse religious heritage of these Lepcha-Gorkha communities. It is not typically open for tourist visits but can be admired from the path and represents the syncretic character of the region's spiritual life, where Buddhist gompas, Hindu temples, animist Lepcha traditions and Christian congregations coexist in easy proximity.
