Sarbamangala Mandir

The most important temple in town and a genuinely interesting building. Built in the 16th century by Nripati Singha, an early Bagri king, the shrine is dedicated to Durga in her Sarbamangala form, with the principal idol carved in dark basalt. The architecture is unusual for this part of Bengal: locals will tell you it resembles the Jagannath temple at Puri, and the Oriya influence is real, visible in the pyramidal deul tower, stepped plinth, and particular treatment of the doorways, a reminder that medieval Bagri's cultural axis tilted as much toward Odisha as toward Gaur.
The temple is active and crowded around Durga Puja and on Tuesdays and Saturdays; visit early on a weekday morning if you want quiet.
