Down in the valley, roughly ~2-3 kilometres from Samsing, the Murti River shows its violent side. Here at Rocky Island, water thunders through massive boulders that give this spot its name. The river is at its most photogenic: clear water, giant rocks, and the kind of constant roar that shuts down overthinking.
This is the place for bouldering, light rock climbing, or simply finding a flat rock for an afternoon nap. Several operators set up riverside camping, letting you fall asleep to the sound of water on stone.
The Rocky Island Forest Loop is a moderate 5-kilometre circuit through dense sal and teak forest that rewards early morning walkers with bird sightings and possible encounters with barking deer.
