The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most popular option is the 2-hour "Joyride," which runs from Darjeeling to Ghoom (India's highest railway station) and back. Pulled by a vintage steam engine, it chugs through the town, past markets, and stops for 10 minutes at the Batasia Loop. Book tickets well in advance.
