Just 3 km from the resort area, Panchet was the last of four multipurpose dams built by the Damodar Valley Corporation (the others at Tilaiya, Konar, and Maithon). Opened in 1959, the dam sits at the foot of Panchet Hill on the Jharkhand border. The reservoir, known as Panchet Lake, is a lovely spot for an evening stroll. The views of the hill reflected in the still water at sunset are memorable. A DVC park near the dam offers pleasant green lawns and is a popular local picnic spot. Boating is sometimes available.
