Kali Mata Temple
To the east of the main Taraknath sanctum stands a temple of Kali Mata, one of the most universally worshipped goddesses in Bengal. The coexistence of the Kali shrine with the primary Shaivite temple underscores the profound synthesis of Shaiva and Shakta traditions in Bengali devotional practice. This is rooted in the understanding that Shiva and Kali represent a singular divine reality, embodying the masculine and feminine aspects of the cosmos.
Lakshmi Narayan Temple
A shrine dedicated to Lakshmi Narayan (Vishnu with Lakshmi) stands within the complex, adding a Vaishnava element to the essentially Shaivite sacred geography. This is not uncommon in major Bengali temple complexes, which tend toward an inclusive, syncretic devotional approach.
Shiv Ganga & Damodar Thakur Shrines
The Shiv Ganga shrine to the west and the Damodar Thakur shrine to the north complete the cardinal arrangement of shrines around the main temple. Together, these subsidiary sanctuaries create a sacred perimeter around the Swayambhu Linga at the complex’s heart.
