Nurpur, on the opposite bank from Gadiara, lies in South 24 Parganas and is often treated by travellers as part of the wider Gadiara river circuit. A 15-20 minute ferry ride from Gadiara, Nurpur is smaller and more tranquil. It primarily functions as a transit hub for most visitors, serving as both the ferry point for arrivals from the Haldia and Diamond Harbour directions, and the starting point for journeys further east and south. The ferry crossing between Gadiara and Nurpur is in itself a highlight: the view of the confluence from the middle of the river, looking north toward the joining of the three streams and south toward the widening estuary, is one of the finest river panoramas in the district.

From Nurpur, shared vehicles run to Diamond Harbour (roughly 30km, one of Bengal’s best-known riverside towns) and to Haldia (the industrial port city on the Hooghly estuary). From Geonkhali (reachable by ferry from Gadiara or by road from Nurpur) one can visit the Mahishadal Rajbari palace on the east bank.
