One of the belt's most unusual features, this small mountain lake along the Latpanchar-Mahaldiram road is home to the Himalayan Salamander (Tylototriton verrucosus) — a striking orange-and-black amphibian of considerable scientific interest. The lake is at its most rewarding in the post-monsoon months when salamander activity is highest. Birding around the water's edge is excellent at any season.
