The Mini Zoo & Wildlife Rescue Complex

The Rasikbil Mini Zoo functions primarily as a center for the rescue, rehabilitation and education of wildlife indigenous to the Dooars region, rather than a traditional zoological garden. Its facilities include:

Rescue and Rehabilitation:

• Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre
• Tortoise Rescue Centre
• Leopard House (rescued individuals)
• Python House

Visitor Attractions:

• Deer Park (Spotted Deer, Barking Deer)
• Aviary (resident birds)
• Large Aquarium (endemic & exotic freshwater species)
• Nature Interpretation/Wildlife Centre

A major attraction is the crocodile centre, where mugger crocodiles are safely and clearly viewable. The deer park and aquarium are particularly engaging for children. The wildlife interpretation centre provides excellent background on the Dooars ecosystem and is worth allocating time to before heading out to the lake.
