The heart of the Midnapore Heritage Core is the town itself, a compact old city whose lanes, institutions and monuments constitute one of the most authentic freedom-struggle trails in Bengal. Unlike many such circuits, the Freedom Trail here requires no curatorial imagination: the buildings are real, many still in use, and the stories attached to them are among the most dramatic in Indian history.
