This 33-acre artificial lake was created in 1691 by the Maharaja of the time, making it one of the oldest planned recreational landscapes in Bengal. The surrounding park, developed by the Krishnasayar Trustee Board, is Bardhaman’s favourite place for an evening stroll and deservedly so: the combination of open water, tree cover, and relative quiet in a busy city is genuinely restorative. Boating is available. Come in the late afternoon when the light on the water is soft and the walking temperature pleasant.
