The Kopai Riverbank

Allow time simply to sit on the ghats by the Kopai River. This is a river that Rabindranath Tagore celebrated in his poetry and that flows through the literary consciousness of Birbhum like a golden thread. The sandbanks in winter attract wading birds; the light in the late afternoon turns the water and the red soil to copper. It is among the most peaceful spots in Birbhum.
