In the village of Kogram, where the Ajay and Kunur rivers meet, local tradition and historical accounts identify the site as Ujani. This location is believed to have been the capital of the mythical king Vikramaditya Keshari. Furthermore, it is famously known as the departure point for the great merchant Dhanapati Saudagar's trading voyages, as recounted in the epic Bengali narrative poem, the Chandi Mangal. The Devi Chandi is worshipped here as a Shakti Peeth. The site has a dual character: a quiet river confluence town with living pilgrimage significance and a faint overlay of epic mythology. Worth a brief stop if the route takes you that way.
