The Watchtower

Chapramari's single watchtower is the sanctuary's crown jewel. Positioned above a salt lick and an open grassland glade, with the glinting waters of the Murti River visible beyond, it offers unobstructed sightlines that are the stuff of wildlife-photography dreams. A wired fence at ground level keeps animals undisturbed. From the top of the tower, watching a herd of gaur emerge from the tree line or an elephant family amble across the grassland, time slows noticeably. Arriving early and being prepared to wait is advisable, as the forest keeps its own schedule.
Note that the tower can become crowded during peak season weekends. If possible, plan a weekday visit. The forest bungalow nearby has a small pond where animals come to drink, offering additional viewing opportunities for guests staying overnight.
