Held at Sangchen Dorjee Monastery over three days on the 10th day of the 2nd month of the Tibetan calendar (usually April-May), the annual Cham or Gumpa Dance festival is one of the most spectacular cultural events in the region. Monks in elaborate masks and robes perform sacred dances honouring Guru Rinpoche Padma Shambhava. Try to time your visit to coincide with this extraordinary event.
