The sanctuary's most unusual attraction is its small but significant gharial facility. Among the world's most endangered reptiles, these fish-eating crocodilians have a prehistoric appearance. The males are particularly distinctive due to the bulbous 'ghara' on their snout. Bethuadahari maintains a resident population and visitors can observe them at close quarters, usually basking in the sun near the shallow lake. This is a rare opportunity to see these remarkable animals outside of a major zoo.
