Forest Walks

The forested fringe of the sanctuary, which grades into the broader Baikunthapur Forest Division, rewards quiet exploration. Forest birds such as parrots, owls, various kingfishers and at dusk, nightjars are most easily seen here rather than at the open lakeside. The tribal village adjacent to the sanctuary offers a gentle introduction to the Koch Rajbongshi community; local guides, where available, bring invaluable knowledge of the local ecology and bird calls.
