On N. N. Roy Street near the river, the Denmark Tavern is an 18th-century landmark brought vividly into the present as a heritage stay with a café/restaurant. Established in 1786 by British innkeeper James Parr, it later fell into disrepair before being restored and reopened in 2018 as part of the wider Serampore conservation push. It’s owned by the Government of West Bengal and run by The Park / Park Group.

Order something simple and linger. The pleasure here is as much about light, proportion, and the revived building as it is about the plate.
