In 2017, the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary became home to India's first dedicated hill station cycling trail. The 20-kilometre route begins at the main gate of the sanctuary near Jorebunglow and follows the gentle gradients of an old road that once connected Darjeeling and Kurseong, concluding at Chatakpur, where the state tourism guest house offers tea and snacks for arriving cyclists. The trail is closed during August and reopens after 15 September. A permit (Rs 50 at the sanctuary entrance) is required, and bikes can be hired in Darjeeling town, about 30 minutes from the trailhead.
