Bonpukuria Deer Park

Set on a forested island in the middle of the reservoir, this small park is reached by boat and then a 2 km walk or motor-van ride through lovely jungle paths. The park is home to around 40 deer that roam in semi-wild conditions, along with monkeys and various bird species. Conditions are basic — this is more sanctuary than zoo — but the combination of the boat ride, the forest walk, and the gentle deer makes for a charming family outing. Binoculars are handy for birdwatching.
