Boat Rides & River Cruises

The most memorable thing you can do at Diamond Harbour is get on the water. Local boatmen offer short rides along the riverbank, enough to see the promenade, the lighthouse and the fort ruins from the river itself, at negotiable rates. Longer cruises toward Sagar Island can be arranged, though these are multi-hour affairs requiring more planning. The ferry service to Haldia on the opposite bank offers a cheap and genuine river crossing experience. Most memorably, the WBTDC and private operators offer day-long or evening cruise packages, and there is something deeply satisfying about watching Diamond Harbour's riverfront from the water as the sun drops and the lights begin to come on.
