Boat Rides on the Lake

Being on the water, gently rowing or paddling across the lake, completely transforms the experience of merely watching from the shore. Instead of observing the birds from afar, you suddenly find yourself right among them. Boat rides are available for visitors (additional charge applies) and are highly recommended for photographers. Moving silently across the still water, you can approach roosting cormorants and storks far more closely than any land-based vantage point allows. The reflections at dawn, when the sky burns with colour and the birds are silhouetted against the light, are genuinely spectacular.
