The transition zone between tea estate, riverine scrub, and primary forest at Raimatang creates exceptional birding habitat. The Great Hornbill, one of India’s most spectacular birds, is regularly seen crossing the valley in its characteristic heavy, flapping flight. Wreathed Hornbills also occur here. Peacocks are common in the village margins. Patient observers in the forest may encounter the Red Jungle Fowl (the ancestor of the domestic chicken), the Crested Serpent Eagle, the Changeable Hawk-Eagle, and various forest kingfishers.
