The headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, this architectural marvel synthesizes Hindu, Christian, and Islamic design elements. Founded by Swami Vivekananda in 1897, the pristine white temple sits serenely on the western bank of the Hooghly River. Sprawling over 40 acres, the complex serves as a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world, professing different faiths and religions. The peaceful gardens and museum offer respite from Kolkata's frenzy. The room where Swami Vivekananda attained Mahasamadhi has been preserved, and his memorial also lies within the Math.

Don't Miss: The evening aarti ceremony, when devotional songs fill the temple complex and oil lamps flicker along the ghats. The museum houses personal belongings of Swami Vivekananda and rare photographs.
