Batasia Loop & Gorkha War Memorial

An ingenious spiral railway loop 5 km below Darjeeling. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train) completes a 360-degree turn here. The centre of the loop houses a pristine garden and a solemn Gorkha War Memorial, honoring the Gorkha soldiers who died post-independence. The view of Kanchenjunga from here, framed by the railway tracks, is spectacular. Most visitors see this as part of the Toy Train “Joyride” or on the drive back from Tiger Hill.
