Set slightly apart from the press of the temple lanes, the ashram complex offers a calmer, more contemplative side of Tarapith. It safeguards the samadhi (memorial tomb) of Bamakhepa and keeps his memory alive through daily devotion as well as practical service to the community.
The samadhi itself is simple, but it carries a quiet gravity that encourages visitors to slow down and take a breath. A small museum displays personal belongings and photographs that help place the saint’s life in context, while the steady rhythm of morning and evening bhajans fills the complex with a gentle, devotional hum. If you’re curious to go deeper, the ashram library holds texts related to Tantra and Shakti worship, and meditation sessions may be available.
Beyond spiritual practice, the ashram’s charitable work is visible and grounded, with a dispensary and a school serving local needs. Donations are welcomed as a way to support these ongoing activities.
